In a small mountain town a random shooting sets off a chain of events that disrupts the simple way of life for Constable Rick Adams and his family. As Rick's brother Trent and his friend are snowmobiling across a large open lake, they get shot at by a mysterious trapper in the woods, killing the friend and forcing Trent to run and seek Rick's aid. Rick collects a group the next day to pick up the frozen body on the lake, but is cut short as his brother decides to chase and find the Mad Trapper. Rick's morals are challenged as he and his group go face to face with the trapper in a final shootout that will change his life forever. A northern small town family embarks on a manhunt to avenge the death of one of their own.
